23.2.2013

- it's still too early to consider implementing a Japanese premium tank (which might come before the branch itself like the Type 59 did)
- the new (Russian) voiceover didn't change the voice mechanics, just the voices themselves
- multi-voice voiceover (one voice for driver, one for commander etc.) won't be implemented, Storm says they thought about it but decided not to do it because they thought it was confusing
- there will be some small client optimalisations (SS: not clear from the question when, presumably in 8.5)
- developers are considering the voiceover options at this moment, including the distorted realistic voices (like from radio)
- regarding the argument the T-80 is too weak for tier 4: "you'll see during the test"
- a tip from Storm regardint the new tier 10 Soviet medium: "don't accumulate XP until you see the new tech tree", the same goes for the AMX-30 French branch
- 8.5 will not bring the T-50-2 replacement, the T-60/70/80 branch does not influence the T-50 or T-50-2
- according to Storm, the Chinese tank designations came from the Chinese partners, they are historical
- another ammo type: "not for now"
- there is no additional bonus XP for destroying the whole enemy platoon, nor is it planned
- Soviet captured premium Panther and Soviet premium TG tank will not come in 2013
- trollplatoons are not a reportable offense, nor will they be punished, the matchmaker compensates for the lower tier vehicle MM weight, the devs consider this solution to be enough
- Sixth Sense will not be touched by devs atm, but Storm says that more than a buff this skill needs a nerf

Regarding the Russian "famous actors" voiceover, Storm admits that they screwed it up, there are bugs in it, some phrases are incorrectly dubbed etc., they will fix it. The current voiceover is a test version, not the final one.
However, Storm says that it's "completely possible" each tank will have a voiceover in language of its crew (French crews speak French etc.).

  1. Crews speaking in their own language? No thanks, I'd like to be able to understand them. Why not have them speak English but with the respective accents?

    1. id guess its deactivateable...

i totally would prefer russian, german, French and so on as sounds of the crew.
Im giving a damn about the understanding as long as it gives me some atmosphere...
just think of BF2 and the Command-flower there (commands like: need support, medic, whatsoever), or MenAtWar... its just giving out commands in the respective language of the nation you are playing.

Would be a Win situation in terms of feeling and atmosphere.

    2. Would really prefer crews speaking in their own language. Adds more realism into the game. the HUD itself provides all of the needed indicators for whatever happens anyway.

    3. I totally agree with tank crews speaking in their native languages. It should be disableable though, because most players will dislike it, in my opinion. I agree with the posters above me, it would really add a lot to the game, and we all would know how to say useless stuff in 5+ languages :)

    4. There should be an option to switch back to all- (insert your language here), but honestly after awhile even if you don't know a language you'll figure out what they're saying based on context.

Lol. At WG devs troll you.

    1. Doesn't this just means that the tier weight actually distorts for the favour of the troll platoon, the reason why players wan't it offensive and report them more than not.

Also why are they hesitant in creating restictions to platoons to keep these idio... fine players from screwing up the balance?

    2. Shocking to read.
Now its leagal to have this "no-clue-premium-tier8-driver" along with his partners in 2 loltractors. That helps the Game-expirience advance big time.
Only thing i had, was reporting those unfairness, now that is gone too.
One step further down, WG! U reach the Bottom soon.

  3. Six sense nerf!? How should a nerf of this skill look like?

Well, the voice thing gets interesting. As I already mentioned I would like to hear the voice actors form CoH for the germans. :3
And I would bore me if I only hear the commander. :/

    2. sixth sense already has a big delay what they want?making 10s dealy?let arty aim at us then...

    3. For a scout driving at 60+ kph, the existing 3s delay is often a killer. I can't imagine further nerf to this perk, it will become obsolete for fast-movers.
It has been requested a thousand times for this perk to keep the bulb on as long as we're spotted or something like this to make it more useful, but it was denied. And now they're talking about nerfing it? WTH.

      Delete
    4. The problem with the sixth sense perk is that they made it too good initially, just like the type 59, and now a lot of players depend on having this perk, which is wrong, because knowing when you have been spotted is a real skill, based on knowledge of tanks and game mechanics. At the moment this is the best perk in game, and in most cases the first pick for commander. I don't think that changing the delay on it is a real option, rather they should change it completely. As for scouts it's already useless if you use it while scouting actively, and I use it for my passive scouts, but even than if I've been spotted for 3 seconds, I should be dead.

    5. Delaying it 2-3 more seconds would be a very effective nerf while still making it useful. As it is right now, it isn't worth thinking about whether you have been spotted because the light will come on before you figured it out. The slight delay would make it worthwhile to start thinking about it again which would be good. Still, a change in the mechanic could be better.

    6. Karlis - hang on, so the problem with this skill is that it's actually a skill that's good and works? I'm sorry, you are right, the Commander needs more totally useless skills like Intuition is for the Loader...

...but seriously. (Phil Collins reference, anyone?)

      Delete
    7. Nerf it past 3 secs and it's useless . U will know u are spoted when u take damage.

      Delete
    8. I'm sorry but why nerf a useful skill? All this will do is make artillery more effective and make passive scouting near-useless. It's bad enough that we don't know the exact stats for camo for each tank having to add even more guesswork would make a lot of players rage to no end.

      Delete
  5. Finally! Crews will speak in their mothertongue, cool stuff!

Sixth Sense is a bit to strong, but i see here also no option for nerfing this skill a bit.

I bet if they rework this skill, it will be complete useless. Lamp will light after you received hits or something like that.

    5. I guess people will be very happy not being able to understand a damn thing when they use a tank with a language they don't speak.

It should be optional, but I would support english-speaking crews with national accents a 100%.

  6. - another ammo type: "not for now"
    This confuse me a bit.

After the the last information about the Leo1 premium amo ( Leopard 1 will use subcaliber rounds as gold ammo) we thought we get APDS amo.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. APDS generally counts as APCR I think

      Delete
    2. Yeah, you'll notice that L1A1, L7A1 and M68 guns can load "AP Composite-Rigid APDS" shells. As far as I understand, APCR and APDS shells are quite different so I don't know why WG treats them as same shells. Maybe they are too lazy to write separate mechanics for them or to implement sabot-discarding animation (would like to see that in WoT).

      Delete
    3. Only mechanics are HE and AP - just different names for shells. HEAT are HE, and APDS APCR are AP.
Maybe some time later we get different mechanics for it.

      Delete
    4. HEAT isn´t HE. HESH works like HE but HEAT works different.

      Delete
    5. HEAT is a combination of AP nad HE in terms of mechanics: they don't ricochet, but they don't get a normalization bonus. Unlike HE, they need to penetrate to do damage, but then again unlike AP the HEAT doesn't have a penetration penalty over distance.

      Delete
    6. HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) rounds are a specialised form of explosive projectile. It consists of a forward facing hollow cone of HE lined with a soft metal (usually copper) which is topped with an aerodynamic cap with a piezo electric fuze on the tip. When the tip strikes a solid object the fuze sets off a detonator at the base of the projectile that in turn sets off the explosives, which then collapse the copper lining which shoots forward at hypersonic speeds.

The jet of molten metal that is created by a HEAT round can penetrate many times its own calibre of solid steel and is very light and easy to manufacture. Unfortunately, countermeasurs that delay or disrupt the jet are also very simple and easy to implement. This includes spaced or composite armour, ERA, or even something as simple as a "cage" of light mesh that sets the fuze off early, ie away from the armour itself.

SInce HEAT rounds are explosive in nature they do NOT lose penetration at range. However, if they strike a target at an odd (ie very high) angle then there is a good chance that the round will either fail to detonate or the resulting jet will be malformed, leading to greatly reduced penetration. For these reasons HEAT rounds are now generally only used where weight and simplicity are at a premium, ie infantry and aircraft carried rounds, and ATGW's.

In WOT HEAT rounds have all of the above characteristics - ie if you hit a tank at an odd angle the round may fail to fire (ie zero damage hit), or do less than full damage. Similarly, HEAT rounds are virtually nullified by spaced armour, so hits to the areas such as PzIV turret, Super P turret or hull front etc will all generally be useless.

      Delete
    7. Nope to the last point, HEAT rounds penetrate just like AP, they only suffer the normilization penalty ingame. RL is not WoT... So we thought long time ago that HEAT rounds would be obsolete against tracks and spaced armor, but they pen just fine, like ap.

      Delete
    8. HEAT shells are not affected by spaced armor in WOT.

      Delete
    9. Well they are affected in the same way that APs are - spaced armor reduces the penetration potential of the projectile. Also, I've never seen partial damage with HEAT shells and I think it only applies to HE while HEAT will penetrate for normal damage or will do no damage at all when it doesn't penetrate (so no partial damage and no ricochets).

      Delete
    10. I think they will change it so spaced armor is effective against HEAT, but it will take awhile. For now, it isn't. Also, it should not be able to pen at 89 degrees, that is just stupid. It should be *more* likely to ricochet. The HEAT shell right now is so OP.

    1. My guess after a quick google search is that it stands for Tank Grotte. Here is some info :
A team of German engineers at the Bolshevik Factory's Experimental Design Mechanical Section (OKMO), in Leningrad, designed the TG-1 or T-22. It was also named the Grotte after the chief engineer.

I.E. Leo1 & USSR LT's in 8.5 + more which will be revealed in news later. No info on 8.6+ etc..
New maps & finally old ones back is great news but no timeline & planned schedule for future patches. 100,000's of people pay & play but no timeline other an imminent snippet!
